How it works

Three taps, done

  1. Choose your photos

Tap the button, drop a .jpeg on the page or paste one. One file or a whole folder.

  2. Get your JPG straight away

Smart settings are picked for you. Change the quality, size or background only if you want to.

  3. Download

Save one JPG, or a single ZIP when there are several. Nothing to sign up for.

Change .jpeg to .jpg — or .jpg to .jpeg — for a whole selection at once. The compressed picture is copied byte for byte, so nothing about how the photo looks changes.

One format, two spellings

JPEG files have been called both .jpeg and .jpg since the early 1990s: MS-DOS allowed three letters after the dot, other systems allowed four. Every program that opens one opens the other. The only things that care are upload forms that compare the extension as text — and for them, a rename is the whole job.

Step by step

  1. Drop the files on the panel — any mix of .jpeg, .jpg and .JPG.
  2. In Quality, keep Lossless on and choose the extension you need: .jpg or .jpeg.
  3. Press Download. More than three files download as one ZIP with the original names kept.

Proved, not promised

Each written file is read back. A lossless row says so, the capture date and camera are checked against the source, and if you dropped the location the file is parsed again to confirm there is no GPS block left.

Questions

Are .jpeg and .jpg different?
No. They are the same format. Early Windows allowed only three letters after the dot, so .jpeg became .jpg there; the bytes inside are the same kind of file.
Then why would a form reject my .jpeg?
Some upload forms check the extension as text and accept only the one they list. Renaming is the fix, and it should not touch the picture.
Can I go the other way, .jpg to .jpeg?
Yes. Choose .jpeg as the extension in the Quality panel and every output takes it.
What about .JPG in capitals?
Outputs are always written in lower case, so IMG_0042.JPG comes back as IMG_0042.jpg (or .jpeg).
Does anything get re-encoded?
Not with Lossless on, which is the default here. JPEG sources are copied byte for byte; a non-JPEG file in the same queue (a PNG, say) is still encoded, and its row says so.
